Annually during this month I get asked whether I feel my age or not... (My birthday falls in Feb) and every year I give the same general response... That I do not feel old... Everyone has this concept that one should behave or measure themselves with respect to their age. And usually as soon as someone crosses 25 they are practically in their dotage and come under the term of "aunties and uncles". (How I hate these terms)... Now why is this per say....
Is it coz in prior times, like a decade or so ago, everyone used to get married before 23 and usually have kids who are in primary school by 27 or 28? And therefore were loosely classed under the category of Uncles and Aunties... But there has been a major shift in this process from that time to the current period. Nowadays young people (over the age of 25) prefer staying single and absolutely hate the ancient terminology!!! I know I do...
And what is it with the age thing... My argument here is that general public measure their age by using the current calender and I do not!! Over the ages we have had various calenders like Aztecs, Celtic, Egyptian, Indian, Roman, Greek, Chinese, Lunar, Solar etc etc. And I have my own calender... which is: my one year is equivalent to maybe 5 normal years... : ) So I age according to my calender!!! Which means I'm practically a toddler :) And maybe thats why I feel so young too!!! :)
Now since I'm on the roll here... why is it that marriage is the ultimate destination. Previously I had thought that this does not apply to us here in Fiji but I guess that there is an inherent gene in all Indians regardless of where they reside. And that gene is to do with "marriage". Everyone must get married... It does not matter that one does not want to!!! Or that why get married to a wrong person!!! And why procreate when one cannot look after one's own self!!! Why is it that marriage is paramount importance regardless of the fact that its for all the wrong reasons?!!!! And why is it that one's success is measured by their marital status? I have asked this question so many times but I do not get coherent answers. There is no logic behind all this. Fortunately, I have logical parents but the rest of the society.... leaves me lost for words... :( Slowly the mindset of people are changing but its changing at a very slow rate even by my calender... I hope that everyone looks at the big increase in divorce ratings and the main reasons behind it... I know that it'll be an eye opener for many!!!
Well thats all for today... :)

Prabhat Well, I don't measure success or anything with marriage. I say marriage as a journey, not a point. I say it is important to get married for few reasons:
1. It is a beautiful feeling that one gets after bound emotionally with someone. It doesn't come so easily and requires lifetime commitment.
2. It is a good idea to get a partner in life as the journey becomes more enjoyable.
So, find your prince charming and get hooked asap.
